"The Imperador is the fastest corvette in the RAF, Royal Aeronautics Fleet. Its commanded by the eccentric and mysterious Captain Joziah Isherwood. He commands the ship from its velvet and brass filled bridge—just because it’s a warship doesn’t mean one should sacrifice luxury, now does it? His loyal but disapproving First Officer Lt VonHollerith believes she would be a better captain, but must give her unorthodox superior credit for remarkable luck and moxie that has extracted the Imperador from many a scrape. She is openly hostile to the brash and gregarious Chief Engineer Bucahard who Isherwood indulges by addressing him with the title Barron even though the fat old aristocrat has fled any country where that rank had any meaning. VonHollerith tolerates him only because of his remarkable ability to keep the Imperador aloft even in the most hazardous conditions."

Bridge of the Imperador was a project I participated in for my Design Communication and Collaboration class. The focus of our class was to create cohesive environments and characters based on one of the several "briefs" (story/character/environment summaries) provided to us.  The brief my group and I chose is the one above, and I was assigned to create character designs for Cpt. Isherwood, Lt. VonHollerith, Ensign Skipworth, Engineer Bucahard as well as a number of shipmates that operate the Imperador. Below are my sketches for the characters, color palettes, finished references, a group shot of everybody and some fun shipmate interactions!
